At Jialeshuei Beach in southern Taiwan, the Indian Surfing Team put in a solid showing at the 2025 Asian ProAm Surf Series (APSS), one of Asia’s key competitive stops, for over five days of competition.

Kishore Kumar led the Indian contingent with a silver medal in the men’s shortboard division, while Sivaraj Babu placed fourth, giving India two finalists in the category. In the women’s draw, Sugar Shanthi finished fourth, rounding out a strong performance across divisions.

Also representing India were Srikanth D, Ramesh Budihal, Kamali Prakash, Shrishti Selvam, and Sandhya Arunkumar under the guidance of head coach Samai Reboul and assistant coach Sanjay Selvamani.

“Kishore’s silver medal and the all-round performance reflect India’s growing competitiveness in Asian surfing,” said Arun Vasu, President of Surfing Federation of India.

The APSS, organized by the Asian Surf Cooperative (ASC), brings together top surfers from across the continent and has become a reliable indicator of how surf programs in emerging nations are evolving. For India, the results in Pingtung are another step forward — steady, consistent, and reflective of a team finding its rhythm on the international stage.
